Christmas Dessert Charcuterie Board with Marshmallow Fruit Dip
Published on October 21, 2026
This Christmas dessert charcuterie board is all the fun holiday treats on one big board, with a bowl of marshmallow fruit dip right in the middle. I fill in around the dip with strawberries, grapes, Christmas tree Oreos, Little Debbie trees, and reindeer wafer bars with pretzel antlers. The dip is just two ingredients, and it’s the part people keep coming back to. I’ve caught more than one person scraping the bowl with a strawberry when they thought no one was looking.

The Oreos on this board are similar to my decorated Christmas tree Oreos, and they’re easy to make a day ahead. If you want to add more to the board, reindeer chocolate bark, Christmas popcorn, and hot cocoa fudge all fit right in. Set it out next to a pot of something from my hot chocolate recipes list, and check out my Christmas party food ideas for the rest of the menu.

What You Need for This Holiday Fruit Dip Board
Whipped Topping: Make sure it’s fully thawed before mixing, it blends into the dip so much smoother that way.
Marshmallow Fluff: Run your measuring cup under warm water first so the fluff slides right out instead of sticking.
Cream Cheese: Room temp is non negotiable here, cold cream cheese turns this dip lumpy fast.
Red and Green Sanding Sugar: A little sprinkle on top goes a long way, this is the detail that makes the dip look festive instead of plain.
Oreos: Regular size works best for dipping, the filling gives them a nice flat edge to balance on.
White Melting Wafers: Candy melts work way better here than real white chocolate, they set up firm at room temp.
Green Melting Wafers: These become your little piped trees, so have a fine tip piping bag ready before you melt them.
Multi Color Sprinkles: Your tree ornaments, basically. Grab the tiny nonpareils for the cutest look.
Vanilla Wafer Bars: These form the reindeer faces, look for the oblong vanilla sandwich cookie bars near the cookie aisle.
Chocolate Melting Wafers: These coat the reindeer bodies, melt low and slow so they don’t seize up.
Pretzels: Snap them into small jagged pieces for the antlers, mini twist pretzels work great for this.
Candy Eyes: A baking aisle staple, grab an extra bag since a few always end up on the floor.
Red M&Ms: These become the reindeer noses, go ahead and pick out the reddest ones from the bag.
Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes: These fill in gaps on the board and add a pop of color without any extra work.
Strawberries: Pick firm, bright red ones, they hold their shape better on the board.
Raspberries: Handle these gently, they’re delicate and bruise if you toss them around.
Grapes: Red or green both work, a mix of both looks prettiest against the other colors.
Red and Green M&Ms: The easiest filler candy for tucking into any leftover gaps on the board.

How to Build This Festive Dessert Board
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, add the whipped topping, marshmallow fluff, and room temp cream cheese. Beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until the mixture is smooth, fluffy, and no streaks of cream cheese remain.

Step 2: Scoop the dip into your serving bowl and sprinkle the top with red and green sanding sugar. This is the kind of thing you can do an hour or two ahead and just keep chilled until you’re ready to set up the board.
Step 3: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Melt the white candy wafers according to the package directions, then dip each Oreo halfway into the melted chocolate. Set the cookies on the parchment to harden, or pop the tray in the fridge for a few minutes if you’re short on time.

Step 4: Melt the green candy wafers and transfer them into a piping bag fitted with a very fine tip. Pipe small Christmas tree shapes onto the white chocolate half of each Oreo, then add a scattering of sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet so they stick.

Step 5: Line a second baking sheet with parchment paper for the reindeer wafers. Break the pretzels into small jagged pieces to use as antlers.
Step 6: Melt the chocolate wafers according to the package, then dip each vanilla wafer bar halfway into the chocolate. Set them on the parchment and immediately press on the pretzel antlers, candy eyes, and a red M&M nose before the chocolate sets up.

Step 7: Once the Oreos and reindeer wafers have fully hardened, start building your board. Place the fruit dip bowl in the center, arrange the reindeer and Oreos in the corners, then fill every open space with the Christmas Tree Cakes, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, and the extra M&Ms.

Tips for the Best Make Ahead Christmas Charcuterie Board
- Make the dip early: It holds up great in the fridge for up to two days, just give it a quick stir before serving.
- Decorate the Oreos and reindeer a day ahead: Store them in a single layer in an airtight container so the chocolate doesn’t get scratched up.
- Assemble the board last: Fruit releases moisture over time, so build the whole thing within a couple hours of serving for the freshest look.
- Keep extras on hand: Candy eyes and sprinkles are cheap, grab doubles in case little hands drop a few during decorating.
- Storage: Leftover dip keeps in the fridge for about 3 days, covered. The chocolate treats are best eaten within 2 days before the chocolate starts to sweat.

Easy Swaps for Your Holiday Dessert Board
Whipped Topping: Homemade whipped cream works if you want it a little less sweet and a bit more pillowy.
- Stabilize homemade whipped cream with a touch of powdered sugar so it holds its texture longer on the board.
Vanilla Wafer Bars: Can’t find them? Mini Nutter Butters make surprisingly convincing reindeer bodies too.
- Just trim the ends slightly so the antlers have more room to sit.
Candy Melts: Real chocolate chips work if you melt them with a touch of coconut oil to keep them smooth for dipping.
- This version needs to stay refrigerated since real chocolate doesn’t set as firm at room temp.
Fruit Mix: Swap in whatever’s freshest at the store, blackberries and sliced kiwi both look great against the red and green theme.
- Pineapple chunks add a nice tangy contrast to all the sweetness on the board.
Candy Filler: Mini candy canes, chocolate kisses, or gumdrops all work in place of the M&Ms.
- Crushed candy canes sprinkled over the dip add a fun peppermint crunch.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can prep the dip and decorate the candies a day ahead, but hold off assembling the full board with fruit until a couple hours before your party so everything stays fresh.
A 9×9 inch board worked great for this amount, but you can easily size up with a larger board and extra fruit if you’re feeding a bigger crowd.
Absolutely, decorating the reindeer wafers with candy eyes and antlers is a great hands on job for little helpers.
Stored covered in the fridge, it stays good for about 3 days, though it’s best enjoyed fresh within the first day or two.
Mini Nutter Butters work as a solid stand in for the reindeer bodies, just trim the ends a bit before dipping.
